HONGQIAN (KATHY) ZHANG
PRINCIPAL LAWYER
Kathy Zhang is a highly accomplished lawyer with a wealth of experience in both Chinese and Canadian legal systems. A graduate from a top-tier law school in China, Kathy honed her skills as a judge at the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court, where she adjudicated commercial and civil disputes. Her strong academic background includes obtaining a Master's degree in Law from the University of Hong Kong and a second Master's degree in Law from Dalhousie University.

Throughout her career, Kathy has successfully served thousands of clients on various legal matters, including family law, corporate affairs, business transactions, commercial litigation, real estate financing, and estate planning. As a trusted advisor, Kathy regularly assists local and international companies with cross-border transactions.
​
With native Mandarin speaking skills and Chinese drafting abilities, Kathy can effectively handle complex legal matters for a diverse clientele. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, golfing, and cross-country skiing.
Kathy frequently gives presentations to organizations, including charities and professional groups, and is happy to do so upon request*.

William Shi is a Legal Assistant at Jade Sunrise Law, supporting lawyers in managing client matters and ensuring files progress efficiently. He works closely with clients on follow-ups, coordination, and day-to-day communication.

William joined the firm in October 2023 and has been working full-time since May 2025. He graduated from SAIT’s Legal Assistant program in 2025. Fluent in Mandarin and English.

Larry completed his undergraduate studies at Peking University, majoring in law, and obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree. He pursued his postgraduate studies at the University of Toronto in Canada, where he earned a Master of Laws degree. Larry holds a professional lawyer qualification certificate for mainland China and has practiced as a lawyer in China for several years. ​​​​​

Ling Ma is an experienced commercial, civil and cross-border dispute resolution expert. She previously worked at MLT Aikins and is currently the head of the litigation practice at Benesh & Biz in Saskatoon, where she has been active in a wide range of major and complex litigation for more than a decade.
RAVEN CHII KON

Chii brings an impressive academic background with a law degree from Nankai University in China, a Master of Laws from the University of Victoria, and a Post-bachelor’s Certificate from the Foreign Trained Lawyers Program from the University of Calgary. Her international experience and dedication to the legal field are highlighted by her time as a researcher at the National University of Singapore.

Cynthia Wang is a Calgary-based Paralegal with legal experience in both Canada and China. She focuses on residential and commercial real estate transactions, managing files from preparation to closing.

Prior to Canada, she practiced as a lawyer in China for over a decade, with experience in corporate, litigation, and commercial matters. She holds a Legal Assistant Diploma from SAIT and a Juris Master from Wuhan University. Fluent in Mandarin and proficient in Cantonese.
